What recruiters should know about China

China's Tsinghua University has emerged as the world's top institution in computer science across multiple major global rankings, overtaking Carnegie Mellon University. This is a significant shift that many Western recruiters are not yet aware of. CEIBS is the standout private business school and one of the top MBA programmes in Asia. All public universities in China are government institutions with low tuition relative to Western equivalents.

How these lists are made: curated by a recruiter from major public rankings (QS, Times Higher Education and others) combined with on-the-ground knowledge from hiring managers and sourcers. Lists are not ranked in strict order and are not exhaustive. A university missing from a list is not a judgement on its graduates. Use these lists to widen and structure searches, not to filter people out. "Private" marks tuition-based or privately run institutions; no tag does not always mean free, see the country note.
