🇧🇪 Top universities in Belgium for recruiters

7 curated universities across computer science, AI, business and overall prestige. Data last reviewed June 2026.

What recruiters should know about Belgium

KU Leuven is consistently ranked as Europe's most innovative university by Reuters - a fact not widely known outside academia. Founded in 1425, it is one of Europe's oldest and most research-intensive universities. Belgium's small size belies the quality of its universities - KU Leuven and Ghent consistently outperform many much larger national systems.

How these lists are made: curated by a recruiter from major public rankings (QS, Times Higher Education and others) combined with on-the-ground knowledge from hiring managers and sourcers. Lists are not ranked in strict order and are not exhaustive. A university missing from a list is not a judgement on its graduates. Use these lists to widen and structure searches, not to filter people out. "Private" marks tuition-based or privately run institutions; no tag does not always mean free, see the country note.
